Where has the time gone? I’ve been buried in commissions since August, and, well, life happened too. So here we are in October, and I’m finally getting around to sharing some of the new pieces with you. I’ll be spreading them over the next few blog posts, along with a few stories behind the places and the people who make them special.

I had set August aside to work on commissions. I thought I’d have a quiet month to focus, paint, and catch up.

And then life happened.

Studio Sale – April 11 | 10–2
Lakewood/Seward Park Community Center

I’ll be taking part in a multi-artist studio sale on April 11, alongside 10 other artists from Columbia City Gallery.

There’s been a bit of a tug-of-war in the studio lately.

Four sheets of paper flipped over, using the backs of old works. No pressure. No expectations. Just making marks. Adding color without thinking too hard about whether it works. Carving small printing blocks and pressing patterns into the surface. Layer over layer.

By the time February rolls around, I’m fully checked out of New Year’s resolutions. But pop-ups? I am very into those.

We’re already in the middle of January, and as the year settles in, I’m feeling deeply thankful for a productive and creative 2025. The last couple of years have marked a meaningful shift for me—stepping back from teaching and returning my focus to my own art practice. It’s been grounding and energizing to give myself the time and space to make work with intention again.

I’m so excited to be taking part in my first-ever Phinney Art Walk—and it’s the big one! I’ll be showing my work at Luxe Lighting, right on the corner of Greenwood and 83rd. Known for its retro neon sign, classic diner vibes, and, of course, damn fine coffee and cherry pie, Twede’s is an icon. This piece captures the nostalgia of small-town diners and that cinematic Pacific Northwest mood. Giclee’s also available.
