New Watercolors and Oil Paintings of Granada, Lisbon, and Columbia City by Seattle Artist Ameen Dhillon

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 18, 5–7 PM
Exhibition Dates: October 16 – November 23, 2025
Location: Columbia City Gallery, 4864 Rainier Ave S, Seattle
Gallery Hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 11 AM–7 PM

I’m excited to be one of four featured gallery artists in Consider, Reveal, Reflect, Evoke at Columbia City Gallery, where I’ll be showing around 25 new paintings. This exhibition brings together two sides of my current practice — the small, detailed watercolors that have been at the heart of my work for the last several years, and a new series of oil paintings that I’m exhibiting for the first time.

Over the last two years, my focus has remained on intimate watercolor studies — scenes of bars, doorways, and tiled façades that reveal the character of a place through pattern, color, and atmosphere. Though I often plan to paint larger works, I always return to the smaller format, where I can linger over every detail. This body of work continues my exploration of familiar gathering spots — from Seattle’s neighborhood bars to the cafés and streets of Columbia City, Granada, and Lisbon. Each piece reflects the places I return to in daily life and travel — where people gather, pause, and connect.

This collection invites you to wander with me through tiled doorways, quiet bars, and sunlit streets. The watercolors are deliberate and layered, while the oil paintings allowed me to slow down and explore the doors and tile patterns of Portugal in a more meditative, tactile way. Together, they trace a journey of looking closely, staying present, and letting the heart lead wherever it may go.

I hope you’ll stop by Columbia City Gallery to see the show and say hello at the opening reception on Friday, October 18, 5–7 PM. I’ll also be in the gallery on Tuesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 21, from 11 AM to 3 PM if you’d like to visit and chat about the work.
